Product Type
Oral antibiotic intended for preventive and therapeutic in feed medication in pigs and poultry.

Description and Composition
TIAMUTIN premix is a coated feed premix containing 800 g of tiamulin hydrogen fumarate per kg. Based on this 80% premix different formulations containing between 2 and 25mg of tiamulin hydrogen fumarate per 100g in a lactose carrier are manufactured.

Properties
Tiamulin is a bacteriostatic agent, belonging to the group of pleuromutilins. It has a wide spectrum of activity but is particularly active against Brachyspira and Mycoplasma species. Unlike other antibiotics intended for in-feed medication, tiamulin belongs to a category which is not used in human medicine.

Indications
Prevention and control of Mycoplasma infections (enzootic pneumonia, chronic respiratory diseases). It has a synergistic activity with tetracyclines against other primary
(A. pleuropneumoniae, B. bronchiseptica) and secondary
(P. multocida) respiratory pathogens.

Dosage and administration
Chickens:

i) For the treatment of chronic respiratory disease (CRD) and infectious synovitis
The dosage is approximately 25-50mg tiamulin/kg bodyweight daily depending on the age and type of bird, administered for 3-5 consecutive days. The dosage will normally be achieved by an inclusion level of 500ppm tiamulin in the finished feed (5kg of Tiamutin 10% Premix per one ton of feed)
ii) For the prevention and control of CRD in broilers
The dosage is approximately 3mg tiamulin/kg bodyweight daily administered for the period of risk e.g. 1-5 weeks. The dosage will normally be achieved by an inclusion level of 30ppm tiamulin in the finished feed (0.3kg of Tiamutin 10% Premix per one ton of feed)
iii) a. For the prevention and control of CRD in breeders and layers and improvement in egg production
The alternative dosage regime is approximately 3.mg tiamulin/kg bodyweight daily administered one week per month throughout the laying period e.g. over 52 weeks. The dosage will normally be achieved by an inclusion level of 50ppm tiamulin in the finished feed (0.5 kg of Tiamutin 10% Premix per one ton of feed)
iii) b. As an aid in the control of CRD in breeders and layers and improvement in egg production and feed conversion efficiency
The dosage is approximately 1mg tiamulin/kg bodyweight daily administered throughout the laying period e.g. 52 weeks. The dosage will normally be achieved by an inclusion level of 20ppm tiamulin in the finished feed (0.2kg of Tiamutin 10% Premix per one ton of feed)

Withdrawal Periods
• Chicken: 3 days

Special Precautions and Warnings
Do not administer the ionophore (polyether) anti-coccidials monensin, salinomycin, maduramycin, or narasin to poultry and pigs receiving therapeutic doses of TIAMUTIN.
