Tiamutin® 10% Premix (Typical)

Free-flowing powder for administration in the feed to poultry.

For the treatment of chronic respiratory disease (CRD) and infectious synovitis. For the prevention and control of CRD in broilers, and breeders and layers. As an aid in the control of CRD in breeders and layers.

Dosage and Administration

Chickens:
For the treatment of chronic respiratory disease (CRD) and infectious synovitis:

The dosage is approximately 25-50mg tiamulin/kg bodyweight daily depending on the age and type of bird, administered for 3-5 consecutive days. The dosage will normally be achieved by an inclusion level of 500ppm tiamulin in the finished feed (5kg of Tiamutin 10% Premix per one ton of feed).

For the prevention and control of CRD in broilers:
The dosage is approximately 3mg tiamulin/kg bodyweight daily administered for the period of risk e.g. 1-5 weeks. The dosage will normally be achieved by an inclusion level of 30ppm tiamulin in the finished feed (0.3kg of Tiamutin 10% Premix per one ton of feed).

For the prevention and control of CRD in breeders and layers and improvement in egg production:
The alternative dosage regime is approximately 3mg tiamulin/kg bodyweight daily administered one week per month throughout the laying period e.g. over 52 weeks. The dosage will normally be achieved by an inclusion level of 50ppm tiamulin in the finished feed (0.5kg of Tiamutin 10% Premix per one ton of feed).

As an aid in the control of CRD in breeders and layers and improvement in egg production and feed conversion efficiency:
The dosage is approximately 1mg tiamulin/kg bodyweight daily administered throughout the laying period e.g. 52 weeks. The dosage will normally be achieved by an inclusion level of 20ppm tiamulin in the finished feed (0.2kg of Tiamutin 10% Premix per one ton of feed).

Contra-indications, warnings, etc.

Warnings:

Chickens:
Birds should not receive products containing monensin, narasin or salinomycin, during or for at least seven days before or after treatment with Tiamutin at the 500 ppm tiamulin inclusion level. Severe growth depression or even death may result.

In broiler chickens, studies have shown that at tiamulin inclusion levels of 30ppm/tonne of feed (approximately equivalent to 3mg/kg bodyweight) no interaction occurs with salinomycin 60ppm, narasin 60ppm and monensin 100ppm/tonne of feed.

If an interaction does occur, stop tiamulin feed medication immediately and replace with fresh feed. Remove contaminated feed as soon as possible and replace with feed not containing the tiamulin-incompatible ionophores: - salinomycin, monensin and narasin.

Chickens should not be slaughtered for human consumption during treatment or for 2 days following treatment.

A zero day withdrawal period for eggs is required.

Contra-indications:
Animals and birds should not receive products containing monensin, narasin or salinomycin during or for at least seven days before or after treatment with tiamulin. Severe growth depression or death may result.

In chickens, a mild to moderate growth depression has been observed when tiamulin was administered at inclusion levels of 250ppm/tonne of feed with maduramicin at 5ppm/tonne of feed. This was not observed with lasalocid at 100ppm and semduramicin at 15 and 30ppm/tonne of feed.

Operator Warnings:
When mixing with feed, direct contact with mucous membranes or skin should be avoided as it may cause irritation. Suitable protective clothing should be worn. Wash off affected areas immediately.

In case of accidental ingestion, seek medical advice immediately and show the package insert or label to the physician.

People with known hypersensitivity to tiamulin should administer the product with caution.

Pregnancy, lactation and laying birds:
Tiamulin is suitable for use in breeding and laying birds.
