Increased chick production

The Tiamutin breeder programme offers proven economic protection in the face of chronic and acute MG infections and, at a cost of only 1.25g Tiamutin (AI/Hen Housed - HH), for the whole laying period of 42 weeks:

  • increases egg production
  • increases hatchability
  • reduces hen mortality
  • produces more chicks (up to 26/HH) in chronically infected birds and 16.5 in acutely infected hens.

Latest comparative field studies

Two field trials [?] were carried out using the Tiamutin Breeder Programme in drinking water and comparing it to a negative control and a flock vaccinated with a killed M. gallisepticum bacterin.

Tiamutin – Broiler Breeder Programme

From point of lay a valuable programme in breeder layers has been developed:

125 ppm Tiamutin active ingredient (AI) in drinking water 3 days/month
- equivalent to 250 ppm Tiamutin (AI) in feed 3 days/month.

This is achieved with approximately 40g Tiamutin (AI)/1000 hens/day. Dosage rate = 12.5mg/kg bodyweight).

Over the whole laying period (42 weeks) the hen receives only 1.25g Tiamutin (AI), an approximate cost of 1-2 chicks/hen.
