It has been demonstrated in pigs, with radio-labelled Denagard, that more than 90% of the total residue following medication of pigs with Denagard, is contained in one organ, the liver.
Using the currently internationally accepted criteria of “no effect level”, “acceptable daily intake”, “maximum daily intake”, “maximum residue limit” and standard daily tissue consumption figures of:
- lean meat 300g/day
- liver 100g/day
|
- fat 50g/day
- kidney 50g/day
|
a “withdrawal period” has been calculated.
This defines the period which must elapse between cessation of Denagard medication and slaughter.
