Respiratory diseases such as:
- Enzootic Pneumonia caused by M. hyopneumoniae and complicated by Pasteurella multocida and other bacterial respiratory pathogens
- PRDC – Porcine Respiratory Disease Complex caused by M. hyopneumoniae and PRRS virus plus other viruses
and bacteria
and
- Pleuropneumonia caused by Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae
are three of the key causes of loss from respiratory disease.
Vaccines for the control of M. hyo have been introduced but they are not suitable for eradication programmes.
Tiamutin is particularly suitable as a component of treatment, prevention/control and even eradication programmes for M. hyo, since it possesses potent activity against this organism and concentrates, following oral and parenteral application, in lung tissue and mucus where M. hyo lives.
