M. hyosynoviae infection - Trial data

Burch and Goodwin (1984) conducted a field trial in UK to investigate the efficacy in vivo of Tiamutin® injectable, administered to pigs clinically affected with arthritis caused by
M. hyosynoviae.
 

The affected pigs were injected intramuscularly with Tiamutin at 10 or 15 mg tiamulin hydrogen fumarate (thf)/kg bodyweight daily for three consecutive days (days 0, 1 and 2).
Assessment was made by a comparison of the weight gains and reduction in lameness scores over a 7 day period. An untreated negative control group was maintained for comparison purposes. The results obtained are summarized below.

Both Tiamutin injectable treated groups showed highly significant weight gain improvements (days 0-7) when compared to the unmedicated controls.
